One of my favorite Hawaiian words is waiʻaleʻale, picture the rippling water after a pebble is thrown into the water. It is the idea that the resonation from each ripple causes an effect on the inner ripple and the outer ripple, and the effect continues. However, when the pebble hits the water, it doesn’t know what the lasting effects will be, for it could only feel the ripple closest to it. Yet, the effects are much longer than that. And so, I translate this to the work that I choose to do, with the organizations being those pebbles. They have a direct impact on their staff, those that engage directly with their programs, and then further down there is the impact that they have on the community and the larger society.
The Ng-Osorio Consulting logo represents these ongoing ripples. The open spaces represent how the effects are two-way. Additionally, beyond NOC helping organizations realize their impact through the storytelling of their data and building capacity. NOC is also about building bridges; the arcs of the logo represent these bridges. Building bridges to connect communities, organizations, and individuals. All of this is seen as a reflective process, that as an organization, NOC must also continue to reflect on the work that we do, and how we continue to do it the best we can for the organizations that trust us and work with us.
